Edey and Duff Shearwater (Phil Bolger) cat yawl, 1996
hull number 11 of 11 made (last one to my knowledge)
HIN: EADSW011I696
LOA: 28'3"
LWL: 24'9"
beam: 6'6"
draft, leeboards up: 8"
draft, leeboards down: 3'4"
vsail area: 233 sq. ft., main (good cond.): 204, mizzen (little used, like brand new): 29
approx. boat only wt. with 600 lbs of lead ballast: 3500 lbs
approx boat and trailer wt. 4500 lbs
Aluminum I-beam tandem axle trailer with surge brakes, tires original, probably need replacing.
Brand new 4hp long shaft Mercury 4 stroke outboard - may seem small but pushes boat at 6 knots.
Superb Core-cell fiberglass construction with positive flotation (Core-cell plus lots of foam to compensate for lead ballast)
Ultra simple rig, no spreaders or turnbuckles.
Berth cushions excellent. Comes with 16 lb. Bruce and Fortress FX16 anchors and many other extras.
This unique Phil Bolger ultra shoal draft, nearly indestructible classic is perfect structurally and rig wise, so-so cosmetically. I painted the hull Bristol Beige two years ago and hoped for a "five foot paint job" but being a lousy painter ended up with a "20 foot paint job".
