This is a family friendly center board sloop rigged design that features a large open cockpit that runs from the transom all the way up to the bow. It enables the crew or skipper to easily tend the jib and to remain in the boat and safely walk up to the bow when launching the boat of bringing her back to the dock. The cockpit includes hiking straps for the crew for holding her flat when the wind picks up. The boat will comfortably accommodate three adults or a couple with two children. She can be safely single-handed but has plenty of room for friends and family.
Great stability and easy handling make her a perfect boat to learn in and the well thought out design and strong construction make her a boat you can enjoy for many years. A generously sized compartment with hinged lid is built into the bow area. It helps to keep beverage containers, lunches and other items safely stowed when underway. The transom is strong enough to support a bracket for a small outboard if needed.
The boat sails well with jib and main and can also be sailed with main only. I was able to get her to plane under main only in 10 mph San Antonio winds when I took her out in early April of this year.
The overall condition of boat, trailer and sails is very good and reflects the excellent build quality typically found with Catalina Yachts. The topsides and centerboard were recently re-finished with good quality polyurethane enamel. The kick-up mahogany rudder was recently re-finished with Helmsman spar varnish.
The trailer was just refinished with good quality enamel. The lights are new, tires are good and the bearings were recently re-packed with marine grease.
The sails show normal wear and some discoloration but should be fine for recreational use.
