This River City built Kittiwake is a great boat for any sailor who appreciates traditional design, quality construction, and understands the expense and effort involved in rebuilding and upgrading this type of sailboat to better than new condition. With over 20K invested, she is for sale due to a change in the owners circumstances.
Purchased from the owner of River City Sailcraft and the last Kittiwake built before the molds were destroyed in a fire. She is a semi custom made boat that conforms to class specifications & sails exceptionally well against her PHRF rating. Construction differs from the more common Kenner built Kittiwakes in several ways:
deck cored with closed cell foam
mast supported by a compression post stepped on the keel
lead ballast cast to conform to keel cavity and glassed in place
foil-shaped vinylester rudder
no motor well
demountable motor bracket slides into a heavy tube glassed into the stern
motor and mount can be completely removed
mid boom sheeting with full width traveler
