This is one of the cleanest, newest looking Catalina 28s that we have seen in years. It features many upgrades & provides a rare, turn-key sailboat purchase opportunity for the new owner.
The Catalina 28 Mark II Cruising Yacht
The Catalina 28 Mark II sailboat from Catalina Yachts combines the classic styling Catalina is known for with the most desirable modern sailboat features, such as a walk-through transom, a stern boarding platform, and comfortable, ergonomic cockpit seats and coamings. The Catalina 28 MkII is perfect for cruising, with numerous extra touches to make your cruise easier and more pleasant.
Cockpit and Deck Features
The roomy cockpit is comfortable as well as functional. In addition to the long cockpit bench seats, two stern rail seats provide perches with excellent visibility. The steering pedestal includes engine controls, compass, wheel brake, and an engine panel with gauges, alarm, and tachometer. Roomy lazarette storage compartments are found under the cockpit seats, with additional storage in coaming compartments.
After a refreshing swim while at anchor, you're sure to appreciate the hot and cold shower built in to the stern boarding platform, and the walk-through transom that makes it easy to board the boat from the stern.
Sails and Rigging
All sail controls, including the single-line reefing system, lead to the cockpit, making it easy and safe to handle the sails and rigging. The masthead with double spreaders and fore and aft lower shrouds allows the use of powerful headsails and narrow angle sheeting for good performance to windward. The self-tailing winch for the mainsheet and main halyard, along with 2 self-tailing primary winches, plus standard roller furling headsail, boom vang, and internal topping lift give you almost effortless control over all aspects of sail trimming. This boat is also equipped with Dutchman reefing for the mainsail which makes sail stowage and reefing a snap, as well as a Dutchman boom break to keep you safe in the event of an accidental jibe.
Interior Cabin
The main cabin is warm and inviting, with teak and ash finishes throughout and lots of natural light and ventilation through hatches and ports. The galley and head are located aft for convenience to the cockpit. The galley has durable, one-piece molded countertops, a gimbaled stainless steel stove, and separate lockers for utensils, pans, and dry food. Generous headroom and extra-long berths provide a comfortable space even for taller sailors.
An electric, push button, fresh water marine head with holding tank and convenient deck pumpout fitting is a great feature of this boat. A shower with hot and cold water is included, as well.
