Here's the problem: Universal Diesel Motor and Transmission have been removed, and are currently being re-built. . .... And this present owner has health issues and is unable to complete the work!!!
Current status: Motor is at a mechanic's shop in the reassemble stage. A replacement transmission, Pistons, rings, bearings, gaskets, etc have been procured, are on site and are being installed/mounted to the motor. Motor/trans should be ready to install in the boat this month. Sell of the Catalina will include the assembly of the motor/tranny, but not the installation into the boat. However, that could be arranged.
Here's the good news: The mainsail is brand new. . ..never having been installed. The roller-furling genoa is in great shape. Batteries (2) are new (4/16). Running rigging is all new. Recent bottom job. The main sail cover is also new (with about 3 extra yards of Sunbrella canvas).
And more about the boat: Standard rig, fixed keel, wheel steering, Bimini, hot & cold running water with electric pumps, mainsheet traveler, interior cushions may be original. . ...but, are in good conditions; cockpit cushions and lifelines are OK, Some interior teak trim have been refinished. Some deck hardware has been removed, refinished and re-installed/re-caulked. Marine Battery tender, There are no soft spots! Some windows leak....and should be addressed soon.
Pictures were taken before the engine re powering work was started. You can see what it'll look like after the motor/tranny is installed Now the interior looks a mess, as the galley cabinet, oven and sink have moved out of the way for access to remove/re-install the motor. This Catalina is being offered As-Is for a quick sale at a fraction of NADA value. I am continuing to work on re-assembling the motor, and if not sold by the time the motor/tranny is installed, the Catalina will be relisted at a much higher price!!!! ACT SOON!
The boat is berthed at the Dallas Corinthian Yacht Club, on the north end of Lake Lewisville, north of Dallas, TX. The slip is also available for sale ($1,200), but you must become a member of this private & wonderful club.
