SteinMayer Star 6903, 1983, Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, $2,500
SteinMayer Star 6903, 1983
This boat was built for the 1984 Olympics in LA/Long Beach by Josef SteinMayer for his Olympic effort with Reto Heiling as crew.
They placed 14th overall.
For those not familiar with the Star, the boat is 22.7ft in length, 5.7 ft wide and drafts 3.3 feet.
Displacement is 1479lbs with 285 sqft of sail area and it is sailed with a standard crew of two people.
This star has a Mast/boom/sails that were replaced in 2008 with an Emmeti mast/Spartec boom and Quantum sails.
There is also a practice North Jib with bolt on hanks (which are removable).
Overall the boat is in very good condition with only minor blemishes to the hull.
The boat has spent most of its time in a garage in Colorado but is now in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. The deck could use a new coat of paint and the crew hiking straps need replacing.
Crew droop hiking vest included.
All lines/control systems are functional and she could be raced today.
This boat remains competitive with much newer Star boats and is very fast upwind in medium/light air. Trailer is set up to ramp launch.
Boat could be delivered to its new home if needed.
