I am selling my 1972 MacGregor Venture 222 ‘Retreat’ after owning it for nearly 14 years. It is a swing keel trailer sailor.
It has been restored over ten years ago.
I’ve sailed it in GA (mostly lake sailing), in the Gulf and Atlantic part of FL, the GA coast, and the SC coast. It is one of the best pulling and easiest to set up sailboats out there.
You won’t find an easier getaway that can sail the coast or lake and can sit in your backyard.
The towing weight is just under 3,000 lbs.
The boat features a pop-top that allows 6’ of standing headroom inside and a nice breeze while inside the cabin.
All navigation and trailer lights work.
2003 Mercury 15hp outboard - new mainsail in 2007 - 3 head sails (Genoa, jib, storm jib.....all original) - has electric trailer brakes (you must have a control module in your truck/SUV to use it) - topsides and hull/bottom were all repainted in 2008 (only topsides could use another coat) - keel was completely serviced in 2008 along with new winch - interior was repainted and completely refurbished in 2007 (all cushions were reupholstered) - new battery Oct. 2017 - new wiring in 2006 - new stereo in 2007 with AUX for phone/mp3 - VHF Radio with mast antennae - mast head wind vane
Raymarine Knot meter and Hummingbird depth meter in 2007
The boat has one soft spot on the bow about 3”across that’s been there for years. Some of the topsides could use a touch up, but it’s really the only thing wrong with it.
