Sparkman and Stephens Weekender Sloop, 35ft., 1937,
1937 Sparkman and Stephens Weekender Sloop American classic sailboat in need of total restoration. All wood. Restoration/conservation project, and not one for a beginner. Lot's of mahogany and teak. A nice project for a wooden boat shipwright sailing enthusist. A part of American sailing history. Working drawings for restoration are available through Mystic Seaport. https://www.mysticseaport.org/
It is basically a wooden mahogany planked hull on oak, white pine deck in need of total rebuild from keel up. Some deck hardware is still on the boat and some in storage. Spreaders are stored and can be preserved. The boat is located in Central, South Carolina. It is a major yacht conservation project even for the most experienced and skilled shipwright or carpenter. It will require a total rebuild. The yacht will take a lot of research, time and money to restore. It will then be worth somewhere between 60 to 100K plus depending on the quality. In the European market they go for a premium and would be worth much, much more. She has beautiful lines and if restored will be a keeper. She was a great sailor in her day and a set of working drawings for restoration/conservation are available at Mystic Seaport. https://www.mysticseaport.org/
