Balboa 20, 1975 with Trailer and outboard 5HP engine.
We've loved her dearly and sailed her extensively for a year on Flathead Lake in Montana, and we're now planning our move up to ocean cruising and a bigger boat.
Renowned sailboat designer Lyle Hess drew the lines for this swing keel trailer sailor to withstand the rigors of coastal ocean cruising, yet remain light enough to be hauled with the family car (at 1450 lbs displacement, we haul her in our 4 cylinder Tacoma no problem).
She's comfortable to sail with 4-5 people for daysails and 2-3 people for overnights.
There is a cabin with a V-Berth (roomy for 2) and a Settee (couch) that could sleep another as well.
There is also a hand pump sink and plenty of storage. We've found it easy to launch, retrieve, sail and raise and lower the mast with only 2 people.
Beam- 7'1"
Draft -- 4' with keel down, 2' with keel up
Berths - 3
Motor-Briggs and Stratton outboard (purchased 3 years ago, approx 25 hours)
Trailer (bearings repacked this spring)
Swing Keel (450 iron ballast) allows cruising in shallow water, beaching instead of anchoring, and ease of trailering
Mostly new running rigging
Hand pump sink
Cuda 300 Depthsounder/Fishfinder
Deep cycle marine battery (2 years old)
Mainsail and Jib
Sail Cover
We're sad to see her go as she's the vessel that has started us down this adventure, but it's time to move into a new sailing chapter!
Thanks. We appreciate the service you provide.
