Newest Update April 12: Boat hauled and bottom painted. Topsides clean and pretty. No blisters reported, cutlass bearing replaced, boat hits 7.5 kts on a reach!
Update Mar 15: In preparation to sell, the engine has had a minor overhaul: all external gaskets replaced, new fuel lift pump, fuel injectors serviced, new thermostat, new temp sensor, exhaust elbow cleaned, new raw water impeller, new belts and hoses, valves adjusted. This engine starts instantly, does not smoke or leak anything, and should function flawlessly for the new owner, and in the mean time we'll enjoy it!
This boat is a pleasure to sail singlehanded with all lines leading to the cockpit and the wheel autopilot. The removable inner fore-stay makes this boat sail truly well in storm conditions (35kts+) but is also very useful on those gusty days when you want to keep the boat upright and sailing fast(20kts+) without too much work. The bimini and dodger are also nice things to have in the rain. Alternate transportation is covered by the 9'4" plastic dinghy, which is very stable and carries a large load.
Inside the cabin is the galley to starboard and nav station to port. The galley has an AC/DC icebox conversion refrigeration, and a gimbaled LPG stainless marine stove, oven and grill. The NAV station has redundant built in and hand-held VHF, and the built in VHF is also connected to a wireless handset. There is also an extra battery powered VHF. Port aft is the aft quarter-berth which serves as storage. The original water tank was removed and replaced with a larger 45 gallon, non-leaking polypropylene tank. The space for the old water tank is now a very large wet storage area, where we keep our scuba stuff. Forward of the nav and galley is the salon with settee starboard and a quarter-birth port. The quarter-birth has a raising board that looks just like the floor that can be raised quickly to turn into a bed or just a bigger couch for movie night. The settee can be lowered to form another berth. A new 24" LCD screen adorns the entire width of the bulkhead, and surround sound from the stereo is integrated. Forward the salon is a hanging locker and cabinets port, and the renovated head starboard. The rebuilt head is very spacious and totally waterproof. Additionally it has a shower sump pump which allows positive water evacuation for daily showers. The V-birth walls are insulated and covered with wood which is much more nice than the original carpet. The cushions are a plush 8" of foam for frequent sleeping. It also have a external hatch-mounted AC unit. My wife and I go sailing on every good weekend to Destin harbor, so I keep the boat in good working condition. A MAJOR advantage of this boat for a local buyer is that it can get under the Destin, Brooks and Navarre bridges at any tide.
