O'Day 23, 1982

This is a 1982 O'Day 23, The Angelina, that is in superb shape and includes a tandem axle trailer.

Keep it at Canyon Lake or tow it anywhere.

It is street legal with an overall width of 8'.

The boat comes with a brand new custom made furling 135 jennie and a new mainsail.

Also included are 3 non-furling jibs 100% - 150% and a spare mailsail all in pretty good condition.

  • The boat has the standard 1200 lb shoal keel which draws about 2' and then a retractable centerboard for enhanced upwind performance.
  • The boat is extremely stable and pretty fast and I have clocked it with GPS at over 8 mph.
  • Very nice cabin interior in excellent condition with new tan seat cushions all the way around. Portable head in private compartment.
  • Slide out portside bunk for comfortable sleeping. No cooking facilities.
  • The boat comes with a 4 hp evinrude 2-stroke outboard. The motor is light and efficient and starts easily and runs well. It is mounted on a brand new stainless steel adjustable motor mount (cost $350).
  • All rigging and running gear in excellent condition as well.
  • This boat has been sailed regularly the last couple years and maintained very well.

A custom modified tandem axle galvanized trailer with long tongue extension is included. I personally designed and had this built to fit and can show you receipts totaling $3200 for purchase and modifications. The furler and new custom furling jennie cost me another $2000 or so.

  • This is probably the nicest O'Day 23 anywhere.
  • It had a new antifouling bottom paint in 2010 and the sides and topside have all been professionally buffed and waxed to a high gloss finish.
  • The teak wood is almost all in excellent condition.
  • The boat is also fitted with adjustable boom vang and adjustable tensionable rear stay.
  • It has a new battery and solar charger and also a permanently mounted solar powered exhaust fan which runs 24/7 mounted on the forward cabin.

It is presently in the dry storage lot at Canyon Lake marina for easy inspection, but the mast is erect and the boat can easily be launched on its trailer with any 4WD vehicle.

We are looking at a larger boat for more money and are willing to let the Angelina go for under $8000.

You can find one cheaper perhaps, but it will not be in this condition, guaranteed, and will likely not including furling jib and custom trailer, which alone cost more than $5000.

I wouldn't want to be in Texas this fall without a sailboat and we have stopped looking for a new one. Please cancel the ad for me. Thanks.
