I have for sale one of the most superb sailboats ever produced. The most remarkable features of the Sea Sprite 23, apart from her beautiful lines, are her balance under sail, excellent construction and seaworthiness. A sister ship, of the same Ryder built design, was sailed across the Atlantic to England. This boat is listed by Cruising World as one of the 15 great cruising boats of all time. Wooden boat magazine labeled her "the world’s finest day sailer". Good Old Boat reviewed the work of Carl E. Ryder along with a cover shot of a Sea Sprite 23 in San Francisco Bay, issue May/ June 2008. I could go on and on about the designer. Carl Alberg accomplishments include the Cape Dorys, Pearson trident, Alberg 35, and more. You can Google him if interested. As the Sea Sprite 23 reputation has grown, more and more sailors now realize that this is truly a special sailboat.
The boat’s specifications are
Year: 1976
Length: 22'6"
Beam: 7'
Draft: 3'
Displacement: 3,350
Ballast: 1,475
Sail area: 247 sq. ft.
PHRF: 273.
I have maintained "My Alternative" and have her at the Lake Canyon Yacht Club. I replaced hardware where necessary, painted, refinished all teak bright work both in and out, and also installed two opening ports.
The jib (140%) is fine.
The main sail has a few years life left.
She has a water tank, 15 gallons (I think), a new Tohatsu 6hp, 25" shaft. depth gage, (and a new one not installed), radio, jib roller furling, anchor with rode, port-a-potty (never used) and a new marine battery. She looks great and sails even better.
The heavy duty trailer is included.
The trailer is steel, not aluminum.
It needs painting, but mechanically it is new, all races, bearings, and hubs were replaced.
Electric brakes were checked and connected to the tow vehicle.
A 15 foot launch extension was added for low water lakes.
