Carlyle, Illinois which is about an hour East of downtown St Louis, MO.
4 of them are made by McLaughlin and the others, I am not sure.
A Snipe is a 17' long, 2 person sailboat with a main and jib. The years of the boats are as follows: 1978, 1982, 1982, 1982, 1984 and 1985.
Price: $900 for each boat/trailer. Discounts for buying more than one. The first person to buy one will get his/her choice of boat, sails, cover and trailer (until we get to the last one without a trailer.)
These boats were lovingly either donated or purchased for our junior sailing program. All boats were gone over and repaired to make sure everything was in working order by a Snipe sailor. New sails and covers were purchased for each boat. The sails are in excellent shape, very crinkly. One has a small tear on the bolt rope and one is stained with mud from a turtle that occurred in our shallow lake. The covers are faded. The boats are old, but in good shape. Some of the trailers are rusted, but serviceable. At this price, our club is taking a loss on what we put into them. If you are OK with an older Snipe, these are great deals.
We have an extensive, successful junior sailing program, using singlehanded boats. The Snipes were purchased because we thought it was a good 2 person boat for older juniors to sail. The ball was dropped on the Snipes and we never developed a program for the kids to use them. Probably each boat was not sailed more than a dozen times. We learned that if you don't have a program, you don't have kids sailing them. The longer they sat, the less anyone was inclined to donate their time to develop or run a program. It is time to move them to a better home, where they will be used.
