International Tempest, 1969-1971,

  • Length 22'
  • Made between 1969 and 1971
  • Sail Area - Main and jib 247 sq. ft.
  • Weight of boat and trailer about 1500 lbs.
  • Gunnison, Colorado

The International Tempest is a 22' two man high performance keel boat with a trapeze. It was designed by Ian Proctor in the 60s as a new style of Olympic racer, and it won a lot of races. The class is coming back in the US, and has continued in Europe.

  • There is a great Tempest community in the US that has been a huge help to me.
  • This is a fast, fun boat that is easy to handle.
  • It is in good shape, sails very well, but can still use more work to continue its restoration.

  • It has a main and jib, both are old but serviceable.
  • I have replaced all of the control lines and deck hardware.
  • New windward sheeting traveler and track, rudder and trapeze components.
  • The boat has a number of surface scuffs and scratches, but is totally sound.
  • The trailer is older but very solid.
