This is a 1970 Westerly Nimrod 18. We have had this boat for two years and enjoyed sailing her. She is a good sized boat for two adults. We are now a family of 5 and the Sea Beagle is no longer large enough for us. The boat sails really well and has made frequent trips to Canyon Lake. The swing keel makes for easy shallow water passage. 3 hp seagull outboard included
The boat includes the following.
3 hp Seagull outboard engine, runs well (once you get the hang of it, its original to the boat)
1 Mainsail
1 Genoa
1 Jib
New Marine Battery
All lights are functioning and controlled by new panel
Life Jackets
anchor
sheets and lines
So what is wrong with this 40 year old boat?
The boat is structurally sound and has no leaks or significant damage
The rudder is not original to the boat, the replacement that I built does a good job but someone may want to try their own hand at a new one
The trailer is in good condition but new tires on the trailer are a must
The Keel is in great shape, in rough water as the boat pitches, water can splash up into the cabin (this is more of a nuisance than anything else) I assume that originally there was a rubber seal on the cable housing to keep this from happening. I installed and wired a small bilge pump to empty the water just in case
