Designed by Sidney Herreshoff for the Beverly Yacht Club (MA) as a club racer and yacht tender and built by Cape Cod Shipbuilding. Polyester resin/glass construction with wood thwarts. A classic example of the Herreshoff family's signature wishbone collapsible rig.
Original Herreshoff designed spruce detachable mast, half-wishbone boom/sprit, and all applicable bronze hardware. (Some blocks have been replaced over time)
Spars fit inside boat for easy storage and towing.
Cat rig, no stays, rotating mast. Set up in minutes.
Two leg-o-mutton sails, one possibly original, maybe, (it's old) and a new sail (2012) custom made for this unique rig. One reef.
2012 owner-restoration on the boat included epoxy primer sealant and Interlux Brightsides paint for the exterior hull.
New Port Orford Cedar thwarts and centerboard trunk cap, and a new centerboard using the original bronze hardware.
Thwarts and cap are still untreated- you decide what you want to do with them. Some cosmetic surface moisture mold on wood thwarts from over the winter.
Rudder, one pair new oars, one pair bronze oarlocks.
All lines new: New England Ropes Sta-Set.
Air tanks are tight.
Two rowing stations for weight distribution if carrying passengers or cargo.
Accepts small outboard, but will need a transom backing plate of your design.
Rows nice, sails nice, and makes for a very nice tow-behind tender with good towing characteristics and an interesting pedigree.
Trailer is available for negotiable price.
Looking for good home that will use and appreciate her for her history and uniqueness.
