Sloop Rig, Roller Furling Jib with Harken drum furler and swivel
This beautiful, exciting, well made boat would be a perfect choice for a sailor that needs the flexibility of a boat that can be easily sailed single-handed but also has room for several other adults plus several children.
With both main and jib rigged, it offers plenty of thrills in a moderate breeze and points well to windward.
The large sail area allows the boat to readily pop up on a plane and also allows enjoyable sailing on light air days.
Under the main only, the boat is well mannered and is easy to sail single-handed.
The boat design features an enclosed lazarette as well as enclosed under deck storage.
Unlike most Buccaneers of this vintage this boat still has the original hatch covers for the under deck storage areas.
The hull and foils are all fair (smooth).
The main and jib sails are in excellent condition.
The jib features a large window and is in nearly unused condition.
The Honduran mahogany rudder blade, oak tiller, tiller extension and teak bright work in the cockpit have been stripped and refinished with many coats of good quality spar varnish.
The hull was recently compounded and buffed; the gel coat on the hull is bright and shiny.
This boat makes a great appearance on the lake, in your driveway or at the Yacht Club.
The boat has a good hiking strap.
The Buccaneer Class is alive and well.
The current Builder is Nickles Boat Works.
New boats are available for $17,421 with trailer and sails. Nickles carries a full range of replacement parts, accessories and upgrades.
The trailer was recently refinished with good quality enamel. The lights work. The tires and wiring connector are sound. The coupler requires a 1 7/8 inch ball.
This the easiest to trailer boat I have owned.
I believe the Chrysler designed trailer with transverse leaf spring contributes to the smooth and stable ride.
