It is a rarity because Dolphin Seniors are no longer being built. I contacted the person who owns the rights to the design and found out he had about six hulls, unfinished, in a warehouse. He finished this one for me in the summer of 2012. It has been sailed twice, on a freshwater lake.
The background on why I bought it, and why I am selling is this. When my children were growing up we had a Dolphin Senior, which we sold. Now I have two grandchildren, and thought they might enjoy a sailboat. There are only two problems. They are involved in so many activities that we just don't have time to sail. Secondly, my legs have gotten less flexible as I got older, and I no longer fit comfortably in the boat, especially with a couple of children. So rather than let a nice boat go unused, I'm selling it.
The boat is like new. I kept it under a cover until a squirrel decided he wanted to eat my cover, and then I moved it into my garage. It comes with a like new trailer, a like new dolly, and four like new life vests.
For those not familiar with the Dolphin Senior, it is similar though a bit larger and I'm told faster, although I've never raced, than a Sunfish. It is very easy to rig and sail.
This boat can been seen in my garage in Huntsville, Texas. I am asking $2,000, based on the equipment and its condition. I have clear title to the boat, which is registered with the state, and the trailer. This took some doing, since the boat was not built traditionally.
I will be happy to answer questions or show the boat.
