Boston Whaler Harpoon 5.2, 1984
Good condition 1984 Boston Whaler Harpoon 5.2 (17'). Often referred to as the Mercedes of sailing dinghies.
This particular example has nearly new North sails that are set up for high winds - one extra set of reef points with jiffy reefing and intermediate grommets for reefing nettles (bungees). The old jib has been cut down to be a storm jib.
This is the cuddy version. I have built a storage deck for under the cuddy to separate cargo from the water that inevitably sloshes around on the floor. That deck also can be connected with removable boards that connect to the thwart to allow for sleeping on board using camping mattresses under a boom tent (use a tarp).
A common issue on these boats are the cockpit bailers. There is often wood rot. Last year I removed the bailers and discovered that a previous owner had addressed the issue - all I saw was epoxy. I also rebuilt the bailers themself by replacing the internal gaskets.
Centerboard control lines replaced in 2012. Very new lines for halyards and outhauls.
Hobie Bob mast head to prevent turtle in capsize.
There is a Sailor's Tailor boat cover that is in good shape albeit a bit dirty.
The boat is a Texas 200 veteran (2012).
Price: $3500.00
(Motor in pictures is not for sale at this point because I need to title it first. Although we can work out a deal for the buyer to buy it at a favorable price once I have taken care of that detail.)
