Helsen Streaker, 20', 1974

  • 20'3" length
  • 6'6" beam

  • Boat without motor-$1100
  • Boat with motor, $1650

Vessel is a decent sized craft, with a fair amount of room in the cockpit. Cabin up fwd is for storage only.

  • Repainted the boat about a year and a half ago. There are a few scrapes and such in the paint but there's nothing that compromises its watertight integrity.
  • Included in the deal is a leftover pint of the red paint for the topsides.
  • There is no antifouling, as the boat is trailer kept.
  • I was working in a confined space while hand sanding and refinishing the bottom. It isn't as smooth in some areas as I'd like, but it's all watertight. Will include red tape for waterline trim.
  • Included are a main sail and a jib. The jib is in good condition. The main is fairly worn/stretched but usable for day sailing.
  • I recently rebuilt the shrouds and backstay.
  • No soft spots in the hull or deck.
  • New running rigging is roughly two years old
  • Motor is a 2012 Mercury 2.5 HP, 4 stroke, long shaft model. Starts on the 1st or second pull and has 15 hours on it, tops.
  • Will consider including my 40 lb thrust trolling motor and battery as well
  • Trailer has a new (2 year old) axle with bearing buddies. Tires are a quite worn. LED brake lights are relatively new and work well
  • I have a title for the boat, trailer and motor. Tags on boat are good through December 2014. Tags on trailer are good through May 2014.
  • Some of the hardware (blocks, tackle) is a bit worn and could stand to be replaced, but all are usable at this time.
  • Wooden rudder and tiller need to be resealed with fiberglass.

On the whole, this would make a good family sailboat for protected waters or an easily managed solo sailer as well. With the keel retracted and the rudder kicked up, draft is less than a foot so it can go fit in shallow areas when needed (albeit not under sail). I've put a fair amount of time and money into this boat and hate to see it go. But my interests are straying away from a trailer sailboat so it's time to pass the "Redheaded Renegade" on to somebody else.
