The S2 27 was based on the
design of the very popular S2 7.9 Grand Slam racer – the lines are very similar but this model offers a fixed keel and a much larger interior with comparable speed. This is a stiff and fast boat that excels in all conditions but is very comfortable to stay on. She has a very light and balanced helm and points remarkably well. The boat is controlled easily with Harken roller furling, self-tailing winches, a Harken sail-track system that allows the main to be raised with minimal resistance, sail controls leading to the cockpit and a Raymarine ST-1000 autopilot (2011). She is a breeze to singlehand cruise or race -- also a recent club race winner.
Sails are in fair/good condition
with recent (2012) Sunbrella on 140 % genoa and black Sunbrella mainsail cover.
Inboard Yanmar 1GM diesel starts on the first try and the boat is equipped with a Martec folding propeller for maximum sailing speed.
Inside, the boat offers 6-foot plus headroom throughout, a comfortably sized v-berth, and the starboard bunk pulls out into a double bed. The midship-located head also offers FULL headroom, a feature that is hard to find in most boats this size. A removable table stores in front of the galley and can be used in the cabin or in the cockpit. All cushions are in good condition with no stains or tears.
All exterior teak is in good condition and coated with Cetol, cabin sole and much of the interior teak was refinished in 2011 with semi-gloss varnish. Amenities include shorepower, built in battery charger, Origo Alcohol Stove, dual batteries with isolator switch.

This boat is ready to sail and enjoy, we are only listing because I am in the Army and we are moving to Hawaii in June. I would characterize her as being in good/very good condition for her age. Known deficiencies are 1) Non functioning depth meter, 2) Non-functioning bow navigation lights (I have a battery powered LED that is included), 3) Mainsail leech line needs to be replaced along with some other minor repairs - I'd estimate $100-150.
Located at Rock Canyon Marina on Elephant Butte Lake, NM. Cobalt of New Mexico in Elephant Butte could pull the boat and prep for transit but there are no lifts on this lake. I no longer have a truck capable of pulling the boat so the buyer will need to arrange to have it pulled or pull it themselves.
Asking $12000 with trailer.
Must be sold as a package. There are two other S2 27s currently on Yachtworld.com from $9,500-$10,500 with no trailer. They also do not appear to be in as good a condition as this boat.
