Bristol 29 Dinette, 1969
designed by Halsey Herreshoff .
Classic sloop built 1969:
The HH Bristol 29 is a great example of a fiberglass CCA influenced design.
"Mayaro" has been optimized for fun Wednesday night beer can racing and comfortable weekend cruising.
She is now fractionally rigged with a new carbon fiber Forte mast, with Harken track, and a full suite of new sails (one season old) main, 145% genoa and spinnaker all sails sere built by Evolution Sails of Mystic CT and optimized for PHFR.
There is a new Harken main sheet system with adjustable traveler, harken genoa tracks and lead blocks.
The genoa is set on a new Harken roller furler, spinnaker pole is carbon fiber.
Under the water line, she has been soda blasted (removed 40 years of bottom paint) barrier coated (though there were no blisters) faired and the 2 coats of Pettit Vivid rolled and tipped application.
Her rudder is freshly faired with a new trailing edge.
Mechanically her little Atomic 4 is fresh water cooled with a full Moyer Marine heat exchanger system.
Starter, alternator, and all electricals are either rebuilt or new.
A new DC panel, battery cables etc will last a lifetime. The new panel is easily accessible as the panel is of the tilt down type. The propeller shaft stuffing box has been re-packed and should be good for years.
Her cockpit comings have been removed, epoxy encapsulated and Awlgriped.
vOn her winch towers are 2 speed Lewmar primary winches, freshly rebuilt (original winches were single speeds and not up to trimming the 145 genoa).
Interior is clean and the head and holding tank have been re-plumbed. vAll cushions are new foam we picked a nice proper light blue vinyl for the covering with white piping.
There is pressure fresh water in the galley with a non-pressurized Origo alcohol cook top, and a well-insulated ice box with drain.
The main Salon table can be lowered to make for a huge double birth and there is a new matching cushion for the tabletop.
We do have a dodger for her but it could use some attention it is stored along with the boat and all accessories in doors at my office.
She has won her share of peanut bowls and is ready to win some more or just cruise in comfort.
Her cabin lay out is especially bright and great for a small family.
I am also glad to launch and commission "Mayaro" locally (Mystic CT) and deliver anywhere between NYC and cape Cod.
