A Leeboard Cat Ketch , Whisper was built in 1994 as a mono hull by Marine Concepts of Tarpon Springs, FL. Purchased by me in 1996. She was converted by Jim Leet at Marine Concepts to a Tri-Sport in 2009. She has taken me on many magical adventures from the North Channel of Lake Huron, to the Marquesas Islands off of Key West. Easy to trailer, launch and retrieve. The perfect, well thought out camp cruiser. Sleeps one in comfort, or two smaller friendly people. Based on a Herreschoff design (Carpenter Dory), lengthened to 21 feet when designed in 1981 - over 500 have been built including the mono-hull versions. She has never capsized. Owned and expertly maintained by a life long sailor.
Good sea keeping ability as well as the ability to shelter in water less than a foot deep. When the tide goes out she sits upright with her leeboards raised. Easy to single hand, as all lines lead to the aft cockpit. The forward cockpit can be used for daysailing 4 or 5 people, and it turns into an easy to set up cabin with the flip up convertible cabin for those overnights on the anchor.
