Custom sloop designed by the Naval Architect Edmund Cutts, Sr.

For a QUICK sale because I want to get back into one design racing HUMMINGBIRD has been reduced to $29K. $20K has just been put into refreshing everything at the yard in Oxford, Md. If you pick her up there before April 15 you can even try negotiating the price which will depend on how many responses I get. One party is ready to trade for a racing boat I want to sail.

All exterior varnish stripped and refinished, deck painted, bottom painted, motor gone over by yard. Very ready to sail out into the Chesapeake.

Sailing is more important than money.

HUMMINGBIRD is easy to maintain and I have done most of the yearly maintenance. As the son of a naval perfectionist architect I had the yard do this last round so she would be just right as I grew up thinking you only sold a boat that was in great condition.

  • Traditional look with the patented wood, kevlar, and epoxy construction.
  • HUMMINGBIRD is at place of her birth, Cutts & Case Shipyard in Oxford, MD wintering in their shed.
  • Over $20K has just been invested to make brightwork Bristol, deck repainted, all systems checked out and assured to be in fine working order.
  • She has always been well maintained except one year allowing the brightwork to deteriorate. That is why she went back to the yard. I have a lot of pride in that boat and it's amazing design and craftsmanship.
  • She and I have taken care of each other for over 12 years. My grandchildren, whom I want to be sailors, want small boats so I have a bunch and am putting my "on water time" into their learning.

I appreciate quality and beautiful functional design. In my younger days I also had a silver 1966 Aston Martin Vantage DB6 which was my daily driver. James Bond anyone. Sold it when the children grew bigger and got a MB 300SEL 4.5 (silver) with a big back seat.
