The Mud Hen is a back to basics, sensible, small boat.
With only 6 inches of draft with the board up she can reach anchorages closed to other sailboats.
Her design allows her to be beached for access to swimming, etc.
With a trailering weight of under 1,000 she can be towed by most 4 cylinder compacts and launched and recovered easily by a single person.
The mast, mounted in its tabernacle (mast hinge) is quickly raised or lowered (without any stays) and can be done while afloat opening up cruising territories normally blocked by low fixed bridges.
A single person can launch the boat from its trailer, step the mast, park the car and sail in less than 10 minutes!
