Sailing:
All lines are led aft to the cockpit making singlehanded sailing easy. The yawl rig provides many sailing options as well. On those days with little time and the compulsion to go for a short single-handed sail, the Jib and Jigger configuration makes it quick and convenient. The boat is well equipped with electronics, including Autohelm, but with the yawl rig, I very seldom use it.
The cockpit seats are 6'4" long and slightly canted. All back supports were designed with comfort in mind. Four spacious lockers are located under the seats and a lazarette hatch is located aft of the mizzenmast.
The deck was designed with a traditional appearance but with full regard to the need to safely perform all the requirements of a sailing vessel. All the hardware on board is bronze including nine opening portlights, and heavy-duty Herreshoff mooring cleats. The house is canted 5 degrees with the ports having a 10 degree spigot therefore, no water enters when opening the ports. The weather decks offer ample walking comfort and the non-skid on the coach roof was applied aggressively with safety in mind. The teak eyebrow and rub rail with bronze cap contribute to her classic beauty.
The accommodation plan the Nimble 30' Yawl is in keeping with traditional qualities. There is full standing headroom with as much as 6' 5" under the opening skylight. Ventilation is great due to its 9 opening ports, two opening hatches, and companionway. The traditionally warm interior is dressed with teak ceiling and bulkheads, with a teak and holly cabin sole. Berths are provided by a double in the forepeak, a convertible double in the main salon and a single to port. The galley has generous working areas with icebox, alcohol stove with oven, and ample storage space for dishes and other provisions. There is a hanging locker as well as a foul weather gear locker. Full running hand holds are built into the house below the ports. We installed the Webasto central air conditioner/heater in the hanging locker with a small shelf remaining for additional storage. Air condition is a necessary addition for spending more time onboard at the dock in hot summer months. The head facing fore and aft has a shower.
