Constructed by the world famous Stan Spitzer at the General Boats factory in Edenton, NC (which is still in full operation today!), the Sailing Vessel "Latis" is currently being offered for sale in Cape May County, New Jersey.
The Rhodes 22 is one of the best built, most functional sailboats ever designed.
Her cockpit measures almost 8' square, larger than most sailboats and allowing plenty of room for you and your crew to enjoy her under sail or shore-side for sun-downers.
The Cabin combines comfort and function in an unmatched blend of creativity and perfection.
The V-Berth comfortably sleeps two while the settee converts to a queen size berth in the main saloon.
There is a sink, alcohol stove and cooler in the galley area, plus a dedicated space for the porta-potty head.
The Rhodes 22 in-mast furling main sail and roller-furling 170 Genoa make single-handling a breeze and allow her to be enjoyed in even the lightest of winds.
The pop-top cabin allows full standing room in the cabin while maintaining clear sight lines from the cockpit.
The sails were purchased new in 2007 and are in excellent condition.
The combination keel/diamondboard design makes her easy to sail in shallow water (with the diamondboard retracted) while also providing maximum stability when the full diamondboard is let down via an easy to operate line right in the cockpit.
The top-of-the line 9.9 HP Honda (4-stroke) outboard with power-thrust was purchased new in May 2013 at a cost of over $3,600.
The motor is electric start and electric tilt, making getting to and from the dock or marina effortless.
It is the long-shaft version designed for sailboats, and hosts a 12 amp charging system.
Included is a 3-gallong fuel tank.
S/V Latis includes a fixed-mount VHF radio with mast-mounted antenna, a CD/FM/AM/AUX-IN stereo with iPod dock below decks with a cockpit mounted remote control and two cockpit speakers (plus pre-wired for two additional speakers in the cabin).
There is a dedicated FM/AM antenna in addition to the mast-mounted VHF antenna (which also boasts an antenna-mounted windex).
The cabin has both lights and fans in the sleeping quarters.
The V-Berth area also has a Nicro solar powered day/night exhaust fan.
She is also shore-power ready.
A custom-built trailer is included.
The trailer was made by the General Boats factory specifically for the Rhodes 22 hull.
The trailer is in good condition and was used on the delivery from North Carolina to New Jersey.
Please note that the trailer is considered "home-made" and therefore is not titled.
Also included is the General Boats custom-made Mast-Raising System and mast crutch (to store the mast on the boat for towing and storage). The Mast-Raising System makes raising and lowering the mast a drama-free one-person (but preferably two-person) task.
The S/V Latis is being offered for sale in Avalon, New Jersey and is aggressively priced at $16,500 (negotiable).
If purchased new from the Factory this setup would cost close to $60,000!
