The Venture Newport 23' is a swing-keel cutter made by MacGregor from 1973 to 1984 and has a loyal following of club members and Venture enthusiasts. With its raked mast, signature taffrail, bowsprit and classic lines, this versatile and practical boat evokes the nostalgia of sailing vessels from a century ago. Yet with a sturdy fiberglass hull and fully retractable iron swing keel this vessel is easy to maintain at home on its trailer and with its 1.5 foot draft (swing keel-up) it can be beached in a quiet cove, or you can explore the endless inland waters and coastal waterways anywhere in the country or on the continent.
This boat is on an excellent trailer, registered, and has an excellent, 4-stroke Yamaha outboard.
The bright work needs refinishing.
Everything else looks good.
This boat sails like a dream and is a vintage edition. The Motor is quiet and very powerfull but must be raised up and cocked up underway for tacking.

Improvements to the hull, deck, rigging, engine, or interior
New main sail and cover 2004. new sail bags for on deck storage of the two forward sails. door on head to enclose it with solar exhaust vent. Heavy duty Garelic spring loaded motor mount with new plate on interior to hold a 2004 Yamaha T-8 with long shaft. Electric or pull start. 4 cycle engine .tiller steering on motor for maneuvering in tight spaces. All new sta-set X lines in 2004. Replaced spreaders and brackets and some stays as needed. Replaced cockpit drain and hose. Mainsail halyard rigged back to cockpit with cleat for tying.
