    General Description

  • CanCan's hull is made of welded aluminum (5086 series) plate and is of "hard chine" construction. The bottom is painted with non-corrosive E-Paint. The hull and the entire boat were built to European CE standards and are rated for Category II "limited offshore" duty.
  • A custom aluminum rear arch has been added to facilitate supporting the mast when it is in the travel position which also contains solar panels and supports the outboard motor for the inflatable. The boarding/dive ladder is attached to the rear arch and folds up vertically for storage. The radar and wind generator are also supported by the arch on telescoping mounts that lower for trailer transport. CanCan has tiller/rudder steering with a custom built RudderCraft Kick Up rudder with gas supports to facilitate the raising and lowering of the rudder.

    Rigging

  • CanCan's original mast has been modified to lay down for trailer transport thereby making the vessel a trailerable twenty-eight foot aluminum sailboat that is totally unique in design. Cortland Steck Yacht Designs professionally designed and engineered the new standing and running rigging and trailerable sailing system. The fabrication was professionally done by Island Nautical in St. Petersburg, FL.
  • CanCan has roller furling foresails mounted on dual head stays. The sails include one new fully battened, in-boom roller furling sail system by Forespar. It is the Forespar "LIESURE-FURL" Coastal system. The two jib sails include one 155% Genoa and a light air Reacher/Drifter 180%, both on Schaeffer "Snap-Furl" systems.
  • All sails, including the furling mainsail are in good condition and are made by Doyle sails, except for the ATN “gale sail” storm jib by ATN, which are also in good condition.
  • A spinnaker is also in the sail inventory but has never been used. CanCan also carries dual whisker poles that serve as the basis for the mast raising mechanism that is powered by the single Harken ST40EDS electric winch mounted on the coach roof.
  • CanCan has two Harken 40st two-speed self-tailing aluminum winches in the cockpit and one Lewmar 30 self-tailing single speed aluminum winch and one Harken 40ste series two speed electric winch on the Coach roof. The custom-built aluminum mast tabernacle also has a small single speed Lewmar halyard winch mounted on the starboard side. All sail controls are led to sheet stoppers in cockpit giving total control of sail deployment and furling from cockpit.

    Auxiliary Propulsion

  • Engine: 2010 Beta Marine B-16HE with 98.9 hours on the hour meter
  • Transmission: Twin Disc Technodrive TMC 60
  • Propeller: Bruntons Autoprop H-5, three bladed, feathering, variable pitch propeller with a stainless steel shaft
  • The Beta engine is a special model that uses isolation relays to isolate the electrical engine components from the hull of the vessel to prevent any stray current corrosion. The engine is fitted with a high capacity 75 amp Balmar marine alternator and voltage regulator.

    Cabin Appointments

  • CanCan's cabin interior is made of Sapele cabinetry and walls with teak and holly floors. The cushions are covered in blue denim fabric which is in good condition.
  • The forward stateroom has a V berth style bed and the sofa in the salon makes a double berth. The head is equipped with a Raritan PH-II mechanical flush toilet.
  • The Engel refrigeration units and the Amcor 12,000 BTU cabin air conditioning are of the "air-to-air" type which requires no sea-water connections for operation, thus enabling them to be used normally on trailer during transit.
  • The cabin is heated with a SIG PD 9000 marine propane heater.
  • The galley has a dual voltage Engel MT-17 refrigeration/freezer unit with a Plastimo Neptune 2500 gimbaled propane stove and oven. An additional dual voltage Engel MT-35 refrigeration/freezer unit is located in the forward locker.
  • The salon has a Sirius satellite radio receiver connected to the Tivoli Audio AM/FM/CD stereo, a 12 volt Skyworth 16 inch flat screen TV with CD player.

    Electrical System

  • CanCan has single 30 amp 125 volt AC service with 12 volt DC service. The wiring is stranded, captive spade and is protected by circuit breakers or fuses and has ground isolation on the incoming AC shore power.
  • The navigation lights, interior lighting and engine compartment lighting are LED based. The interior fixtures for general lighting are cold-cathode florescent with a selectable red night vision function. The cockpit lockers are also equipped with red led lighting.
