The Monsun is Hallberg-Rassy's best-selling model, with over 900 built. Although originally intended as an entry-level weekender, a number of unmodified Monsuns have circumnavigated one went around 3 times. Everything about the boat - from her solid wood furniture and tempered glass opening ports, to her oversized deck hardware and nicely finished-out cockpit lockers - bespeaks the high standards of her Swedish builder. Unlike many production models her size, the Monsun is truly a little yacht.
"Flicka" is hull number 226. She has been converted to a double-headed sloop (using a removable inner forestay). As you might expect of a Scandinavian boat, Flicka boat sails like a dream and is very sprightly for a 31 -foot, full-keel cruiser.
