Hunter Cherubini 27, 1982
How about a USABLE 'project' boat? A boat to use and enjoy right away, rather than having to work on it just to get it afloat.
With this 1982 Cherubini Hunter 27, all sailing and motoring systems are in good order and the boat is totally usable as it comes.
Mainsail and roller furling 150 genoa are in very good condition, Yanmar SB-8 diesel engine with new injector and impellor starts and runs great, (new) 12 volt panel and wiring, new bilge pump, rebuilt Jabsco head, (new) dual batteries and marine charger all allow you to really use and enjoy the boat right away. All opening ports, 2 deck hatches, and bright open interior keep her comfy below as well.
She has a built in galley ice box, but I added a small fridge to her quarterberth area that works well at the slip with her 110VAC shore power. She adds a galley stove, pressure water in the galley and head, and plenty of dry storage too.
Project work? Her interior teak trim needs attention. A hatch inadvertently left open over a winter by the PO, overflowed her bilge and delaminated the lower part of some of the trim. The engine was gone through, the wiring and panel replaced - but the wood work remains. While this needs work, I never found it all that objectionable while using the boat.
With the bimini shading her T-shaped cockpit and lounging about her full set of cockpit cushions while snacking off her pedestal mounted teak cockpit table – this classic Cherubini design is shapely and sails comfortably using her furling genoa and cockpit led halyards and reefing gear.
Perfectly sized for a couple or small family, this Cherubini Hunter 27 at $5,000 allows you to use her and enjoy her NOW, while you tweak her to your final taste - all at a low cost investment for this size boat. She is really not a "dog" and is well worth your effort to finish!
