Hurley Silhouette, 1967
Located in Port Isabel, Texas (South Padre/Brownsville area) on trailer with the mast down and packed away ready for transport.
This pocket yacht was purchased in Corpus Christi in July of 2015. I purchased this boat because although small it is a proven blue water sailing yacht which is what I have used it for mainly single handing offshore in the Gulf of Mexico.
The yacht is built to Lloyds of London standards. It is solid fiberglass, no core, nothing to really worry about. After purchase one of the twin keels had developed a stress fracture. As I intended to sail the boat offshore single handed I decided to do a complete fiberglass repair of both keels. The surveyor commented after the job that this boat is now stronger and better suited to offshore sailing than when she came out of the factory in England. The boat is ready to sail with full wardrobe of sails, new motor (plus the old one), and everything else you need to get going. I was sailing the boat regularly up until May of this year when I put her back on the trailer and moved to South Africa to work (and sail!).
New 4hp Tohatsu motor (2015) - $1500
Full fiberglass strengthening of keels (2015) - $5,000
Bottom Paint/Anti-fouling (2015) - $1000
VHF/GPS/Portable Solar panel - Approx. $1000
I purchased the boat for $3000 and as you can see above have put $8500 dollars into it.
Price: $3,000 OBO
The boat is on the trailer ready to go but PLEASE NOTE the trailer is not inspected and ready for over the highway transport. It is in fine condition and works great for moving the boat in/around the boatyard and locally but to transport I would recommend Clayton Scranton who transported this boat for me from Corpus to Port Isabel on a flatbed for a very reasonable rate.
