Currently sailing on Lake Norman (Charlotte NC)... slip paid thru mid October 2016.
Petit Mal, a J/28, is in excellent condition.
Best sailing boat ever - hands down - of the 15 sailboats I've owned.
An excellent daysailer/coastal cruiser with tons of speed and pointing ability too.
One of the few "cruisers" J/boats ever made, but with the "J" pedigree she is very fast.
Handles absolutely like a dream.
Yet not a racer per se - has comforts such as 6' headroom, air conditioning (just reworked), hot water (new), head (new), diesel (2 cycl yanmar that runs perfect as it was just rebuilt less than 50 hours ago), all new fresh and whale gusher pumps, brand new roller furling, new running rigging, new bimini, has dodger and all sorts of safety equipment and spare parts, etc.
Turnkey!
Just 2 yrs ago the entire boat was gone over stem to stern while on the hard. Absolutely is in turn-key and near perfect condition. 2 sails are great cruising condition and would work ok even for racing. Has rigging for spinnaker and spin pole but no spinnaker sail is included (prior owner wanted to much for it as it was brand new).
Job change/finances prompts sale. Excellent shape - you won't be disappointed. $32,000 value (just compare her to other J/28s currently on the market (I think there are 2 out there around 30k) )....reduced $7000 to sell quick!
What she needs: the teak trim needs attention if you're into prettiness.
For racing would probably want new sails.
Bottom lifeline taken off as it broke (all the parts there - just need cable).
Spring in 1 side of one cam cleat on traveler is shot but traveler still functions 95% fine etc. That's it...minor stuff - she is sailing now!
Excellent shape - you won't be disappointed. And she is the perfect size and has the right comforts - plus speed to boot - to be the perfect sailboat! ... If you've always owned smaller trailer boats and want to move to a big boat this is truly a perfect step up. Never get passed on the water again!
PLUS as long as I at least get about $15,000 cash (son's college needs) I may be willing to take a partial trade.
