We are selling our beloved Kittiwake 23 sailboat named "La Perla." We keep it in a slip in Corpus Christi Marina. People love the way this boat looks under sail and mention it to us often as we sail it around.
We sail the boat almost weekly and keep everything in good working order. When you buy it, you can sail it that day.
We paid over $1,200 for the boat to be hauled out in August 2016 and received a professional bottom job by Jimmy at Sanchez Marine Service right there in the marina.
This Kittiwake was built in 1977. It's a masthead sloop, full-keel boat, a classic shape designed by famous boat designer Carl Alberg, who also designed the Cape Dory.
Included with the boat are two main sails and two head sails, all in good condition. The boat is rigged with a jib roller-furling system. It comes with a wooden tiller and has a brand new Harken main sheet block. All rigging, sheets and dock lines are included, as well as mainsail cover, tiller cover, boat cushions, bow pulpit, and a small bimini.
Electric system works and powers running lights (starboard, port and stern lights) and cabin lights down below. The lights run off a deep cycle marine battery. We plan on keeping our battery for something else but could include it for $50 extra.
The cabin is fairly small but has plenty of storage space and lots of storage under the seats. It's roomy enough for an over nighter. There are 4 portals (windows) and a forward hatch as well as anchor locker with an anchor and long anchor line.
MOTOR: The boat does not come with a motor. Since we are experienced sailors, we just sail it in and out of the slip and around the bay without a motor. We keep a long paddle on hand for emergencies.
However, a motor could easily be installed in the stern lockers as there is a motor well that will accommodate a short-shaft motor. A 4 HP would be plenty of power to get it going. We thought about buying one but never did. Alternately, the previous owner used an electric motor, so the boat has 12 volt wires that reach from the cabin back to the motor well.
The boat has current registration. When it is sold, we will be going to the Texas Parks & Wildlife office with the new owner to transfer the title.
The slip for this boat in the Corpus Christi Marina costs $179/month and is paid up through April 30, 2017. Slip fee includes dock box, water and electric.
