SteinMayer Star 6903, 1983

This boat was built for the 1984 Olympics in LA/Long Beach by Josef SteinMayer for his Olympic effort with Reto Heiling as crew.

  • They placed 14th overall.

  • For those not familiar with the Star, the boat is 22.7ft in length, 5.7 ft wide and drafts 3.3 feet.
  • Displacement is 1479lbs with 285 sqft of sail area and it is sailed with a standard crew of two people.
  • This star has a Mast/boom/sails that were replaced in 2008 with an Emmeti mast/Spartec boom and Quantum sails.
  • There is also a practice North Jib with bolt on hanks (which are removable).

  • Overall the boat is in very good condition with only minor blemishes to the hull.
  • The boat has spent most of its time in a garage in Colorado but is now in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.
  • The deck could use a new coat of paint and the crew hiking straps need replacing.
  • Crew droop hiking vest included.
  • All lines/control systems are functional and she could be raced today.

  • This boat remains competitive with much newer Star boats and is very fast upwind in medium/light air.
  • Trailer is set up to ramp launch.
  • Boat could be delivered to its new home if needed.
