The Islander is an early CCA design with a cutaway fore keel and beautiful overhanging stern with a thick fiberglass hull.
Purchased July 2012. The previous owner a skilled carpenter began a restoration demoing most of the interior, building a new mast beautiful constructed from Cypress and a bow sprit.
A small cabinet shop in Tucson rebuilt the interior. New 1/4 “stainless rigging was set up, thru hulls serviced with new hoses & hose clamps, a masthead cap two new spreaders fabricated.
An Electric Yacht Motor installed powered by eight AGM Lifeline Batteries plus cabin 110 & 12 Volt outlets, new interior and cockpit cushions.
A comfortable boat with a nice motion and quiet.
Motoring thru the outer anchorage into Marina San Carlos conversation is easy with just a low wine from the engine compartment.
There is a Mexican Import Permit for Isla Verde which is transferrable. The Islander was crane launched and in dry storage for ten months annually all standing & running rigging and lifelines stored below.
The roller furling boom with the crank outhaul is old school cool. We found when reefing the main on the boom not using the reef points we created an excellent sail shape. Storing the main rolled on the boom made for a shipshape boat.
