With great reluctance I am selling my beloved Sea Pearl 21 SCOUT.
This is the legendary hull that was born "Voyage Through America" and can be referenced in numerous articles and books including "Small Boats, Big Aventures." She can also be seen on Offcenterharbor.com in "Virtues of a Small Boat: Gunkholing in a Sea Pearl 21." I have camped sailed her for several years off the Maine coast and Lake Champlain. She is one of the finest sailing boats I know, and one of the fastest Sea Pearls in New England. She does so much, with so much style. She is a Sea Pearl through-and-through and in the right hands and with practice she'll cover miles and miles with precision and panache.
3'/6" Draft down/up
136 sq.ft sail area split 56/80
SCOUT is ready to sail and carry you to new adventures. She comes with:
NEW cream sails by Supersails in FL that have only been used for 1 season-- approximately 18 days or so. One backup Supersail mainsail in good shape. Assorted older sails for historical continuity
Mainmast and boom without roller-reefing gooseneck
NEW Mizzen mast and new boom WITH roller-reefing gooseneck
Running rigging: New England Sta-set and Sta-set X
Super long tiller extension to keep your weight forward and for standing up when dodging angry rocks!
10' long Shaw & Tenney oars. These are the oars you WANT when you're going to row from Castine to Belfast or Mallets Bay to Valcour Island. The standard 9' oars are fine for harbor maneuvering but if you're serious about rowing and putting down the miles at 2.5kts for hours on end you want the 10' oars. These oars are $500+ new, not including the oversized shipping charges.
Outboard bracket: Vertical adjustments, sits on it's own transom mounted offset plate. Real slick. No heavy motor on your rudder. Currently removed from boat- I have been without aux for a few years now.
Convertible Cabin. Original fabric and isenglass. In rough shape but hardware good. Can order new fabric or go with this one as I have for years. It works, mostly. Some zippers jammed with corrosion (happened prior to my purchasing). It's a 33 year old fabric tent that has seen heavy use. I consider this an extra.
Famous Phil's aft cockpit box. Mahogany box for aft cockpit that will add a touch of class to your adventures
TRAILER: Load Rite, customized for the boat, bought new by me when I purchased SCOUT. Lights work!
SCOUT has been sailed, for real. No hangar queen, she, and I'm not one with a quaint touch on the helm. Everything is solid, no big soft spots on deck (if any), no giant problems. Cosmetically she's a bit scratched, she's taken some hits on the stem and the gelcoat reflects this, the gelcoat is also cracked a bit around the leeboard pivots (common) and the interior paint job is a mix of the past three decades all slowly flaking off. The rubber gunwale at some point needs to be removed, the glass filled, and put if back on, or maybe treat yourself to some Marine Concepts wood trim, bronze bow chock already in place! My asking price reflects the above issues. She is a solid boat.
SCOUT is located in Concord, NH. I will offer full rigging tutorial. 2" ball for your hitch.
I work for a living, am sometimes gone/out of state for pieces of time, can't answer immediately, can't show her without some planning, but besides this I am hoping to see her go to a good welcoming home most of all.
