Description:
With its MORC pedigree, this Soverel 26 is a fast, fun boat upwind and downwind. This is a great PHRF boat with a very competitive 168 rating. Built for overnight, offshore racing this boat can plow through chop. The cabin is sparse but comfortable.
Current owners have too many boats and haven’t been able to give this one proper attention. A few necessary projects are described below, but with a little work this will be a great boat for its next owner.
Highlights:
Brand new, unused Ballenger boom
Barely used Dacron North Sails racing main
Running rigging is new and lightly used
Bottom needs a light sand and recoat, but was professionally faired, barrier coated, and prepped in 2016
Windward sheeting Harken traveler system
New Raymarine instruments just need to be wired up
Rod rigging
What it needs or could use:
Lifelines need to be replaced. Stanchion bases need to be reinforced. Uninstalled pushpit included in purchase
Deck leaks need to be addressed. Specifically at shroud bases
Awlgrip topsides were coated with a single part paint that is peeling at waterline. This is a purely cosmetic issue, but sanding off the top layer and re-topping the Awlgrip will bring out the boats good looks.
Wood toe rail needs to be repaired or replaced in some sections.
You will want new headsails and spinnakers if you are looking to compete at a high level.
Needs a long shaft outboard 5hp+; heavy duty mount is in good condition
Standing rigging should be thoroughly inspected (some replacements may be warranted)
Included:
Brand new, unused Ballenger Spar Systems boom (this is a work of art!)
Spare boom
Spinnaker pole
Almost new Dacron North Sails racing Main (used less than 10 times)
Used main for cruising and deliveries
8 headsails of varying conditions and size (90% blast reacher reacher to 160% Genoas) some are Dacron and some are composite, we consider these all practice sails
5 and .75 ounce spinnakers
Interior cushions (re-covered in 2016)
Spin lock tiller extension
Spare tiller
Push-pit
Jib sheets
Spare sailing hardware
