Skiff America 20, 2009

2009 Yamaha 25HP, 2009 Fastload brand Aluminum Trailer

  • Galveston, Texas

This 2009 Skiff America was built in Arkansas by a very skilled home builder. Only the best materials were used, including marine ply and mahogany. I am the 4th owner, and I know every owner in the chain.

If you've never seen a Skiff America. do a web search and see what they are about. This very unique design combines a large cockpit, a generous cabin for a 20 footer, and a tiny bow cockpit that is so nice for anchoring or coming into a dock. The cabin comfortably sleeps 2 in either a double berth, or 2 singles. For even more room, the cockpit has a full privacy surround that attaches to the bimini. As you can see in the line drawing by the designer, Kilburn, you might even be able to convert her to sail power!

With all this room, and just a 25HP motor, you'll be surprised to know she'll do 24MPH in smooth water. I tend to cruise her at 15-18 around 1/2-2/3 throttle and she just sips the fuel.

The over all condition of the boat is "Solid, with a work-boat finish". ALL it needs is a paint job. But I decided against painting it since I tend to tie up to rough docks and beach her a lot, and camp on shell beaches south of Matagorda Bay. She sports a cool swim ladder, and a very heavy duty cover that can probably be used on the road, though I never tried. Also has a new Marine battery, new charging and power ports, and a fish finder with GPS.

The motor runs like new. I did every maintenance item you can do this past December. I took her to FL this past February and did the Okeechobee Waterway, and some other stuff. The motor was 100% reliable.

The Aluminum Trailer is excellent. The tires are probably due for replacement, though I'll tow it anywhere today with them. Lights are brand new LEDs wired to last forever. I towed this boat all the way to the Keys in February, over 3000 miles, averaging 65-70MPH. She tows like a dream.

I'm in no hurry to sell, I'm only selling her because I prefer to sail. So please, no low-ball offers. I'm VERY happy to demo the boat after a phone call if I determine you're serious. I want you to know what you're getting. I'll be happy to meet halfway if the distance is reasonable with a small refundable deposit, it would be great to meet at a lake to show her off.
