RSS Dorris, 24' cutter, 1965 and 2001 King Saltwater trailer.

  • Price: $2000 OBO
  • Location: Austin, TX

Very Rare Find, great boat for the hobbyist who wants to take the good bones and finish her to be beautiful! This is your opportunity.

This unique fiberglass hull is a cutter style sailboat, built by the R. S. Dorris Boat Company. Robert S. Dorris was once Disney Land’s boat exhibit designer, and a Naval Engineer.

  • The sailboat has a roomy cockpit, and motor well. Fiberglass construction, and is hull #7.
  • The draft is 2 feet with a 2 foot drop center board, so it can be beached easily to play on the beach, if you’d like. Hull and decks painted within the last year.
  • She has flush over head system (no holding tank), galley, v-berth, lots of storage, motor well for an outboard. I have the mast & boom, they are not currently attached for easy of transport. I have raised the sails and refitted all the rigging. There are 2 sails and traveler line.
  • Outboard motor is a 1959 Evinrude Golden Jubilee, 5.5 HP. Comes with 3 gas tanks. I motor is well maintained, however the fuel lines need to be replaced as they have cracked.

Boat has not been registered as she was in storage for a while in Seattle. Brought her down to Texas to rebuild and have done most of the work, but am moving so do not have time to finish. Boat is not registered with the state of Texas and I have communicate from State of Washington that she has not been registered as far as their records go back. The trailer has a clean title with the state of Texas through August of 2021.

Trailer is an extra long 2001 King, “The Saltwater Trailer”, “The Saltwater Trailer”, similar to their newest model number: KBT9000.

  • It is tandem axle bunk style. All wiring was replaced 1.5 years ago and all lights are working nicely.

I bought a lot of parts:

  • 1. Red, White and grey marine grade paint. Teak oil and stain for the wood. About $150 worth of materials
  • 2. More rigging line and general line than you can imagine. > $1000 in
  • 3. 2 Batteries, circuit board, control panel, lighting switchboard, solar panels for recharging, custom lighting for body of the boat.
  • 4. Bolts, nuts, screws, cleats, carabiners, shackles,
  • 5. 3 sailing speed winch. Each of these valued at > $200.
  • 6. Loads more parts that I will give you!

Total weight of boat and trailer is around 5000 lbs. I'm asking $2000 OBO for boat, trailer, and all the extra parts.
