The Merit 25 is a recreational racing/cruising keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass, with teak wood trim. It has a fractional sloop rig, a raked stem, a slightly reverse transom, an internally mounted spade-type rudder controlled by a tiller and a fixed fin keel It displaces 2,900 lb and carries 1,050 lb of ballast.
The boat has a draft of 4.00 ft with the standard keel. The boat is fitted with a 3.5 hp Tohatsu for docking and maneuvering.
Accommodations include a forward "V"-berth and two main cabin berths that extend under the cockpit to save space. The steel mast support is at the foot of the "V"-berth. The galley has a sink.
