    Well built shallow water sailboat, great for cruising, beach camping and day sailing. Very easy to rig, reef and launch.

    MODIFICATIONS

  • main sheet block moved off-centre (for access to cabin).
  • Stainless steel washers epoxied to booms to prevent galling.
  • Outhaul cleat replaced on main boom
  • Mizzen sheet relocated along boom to reduce interference with motor
  • Flotation added to mast sections; replaced mast joiner and end plugs (Laser parts, 2017)
  • Lee board hinges moved for safety (no pinced fingers)
  • pulley added to leeboards for leverage
  • replaced tiller, floor boards, rowing seat
  • added tiller tamer
  • 6” hatch installed in each water ballast tank for optional water bottle storage
  • 4 pulleys and rope for option to control tiller from the rowing seat (single handed)
  • added sunbrella-type fabric sail covers and 'topping lift/halyard' to operate covers without stepping the masts (admittedly fussy)
  • Added Al tube and vinyl boom tent with snaps to cockpit rim for summer storage with masts stepped.
  • wooden mast stubs and ridge pole for winter storage under tarps
  • plywood winter cockpit cover with screening
  • reseated stop cocks in water ballast tanks with 3M4200 (~every 10 years)

  • original wood strips: from tank seams (leaked at screws) and above ballast tanks (removed for camping access)

    TRAILER

  • 1986 Hutch galvanized tilting trailer, replaced springs, lights, winch, and tongue-jack, bearing buddies, bunks.
  • boat usually launched and retrieved with axle above water level

    OUTBOARD

  • Yamaha longshaft 3 hp 2 cycle 1986
  • uses 1:100 oil gasoline mixture
  • carburetor, fuel pump, water pump recently rebuilt
  • internal gas tank
  • has forward and neutral gear; may be rotated for reverse
  • mounted on bracket on rudder
  • small gas can for refilling
  • light weight, runs well

    CONDITION

  • gelcoat has cosmetic wear, stains, scratches and dings
  • minor repairs have been made to gelcoat with epoxy
  • hull has been waxed in spring and has never been painted or reconditioned
  • ballast tanks have a slow leak into hull (common issue). Added tubing on tank seam to collect most of the leakage into containers.
  • Sails not new, but also not worn out.
  • 1986 boats contain balsa wood core to stiffen deck; no known soft areas, but this is a common issue for this era (see S.P. Forum).
  • Not used in salt water for more than 25 years, original owner lived in San Diego then Utah.

    OPTIONAL

  • Jack Wolfskin Sceptre 2.5 nylon tent to cover central cockpit with standing headroom, two mesh doors, full width, coated fly, clips to deck; available for $250.
