Very fast, very easy to sail. Easily sits in the high teens for minutes on end. Fingertip steering, high end beachcat speed in comfort :)
The boat itself:
20 ft LOA
15 ft beam unfolded
8.5 ft folded on trailer
7'x7' cockpit, huge safe space to take everyone you know sailing. Very comfortable.
Rotating aluminum mast, very light (25 lb)
Custom mast step using stainless trailer hitch ball, much better than stock mast step
Diagonal cedar construction covered by glass and epoxy, very fair and very light, completely dry inside
Interlux hard bottom paint
Modified tramp attachment so you can fold the boat with the tramps on (see pictures). Most D20s have to remove the tramps to fold.
Total boat weight is about 650lb. Easy to tow and fast!
Trailering:
Very easy and fast for one person to fold
A-frame to raise mast using trailer winch, also easy and fast
Boat can fold with mast up or down (see pictures)
Custom folding "post" with clutches fits in daggerboard slot, makes folding and unfolding a breeze (see pictures). Easy one man job.
Foils:
Carbon daggerboard
Carbon rudder, tiller and housing.
Both foils and the rudder housing were built by a French engineer to a very high standard. The rudder can lift vertically while you're sailing to sail in shallow water, and also kicks up on carbon hinges if you hit something. Custom design, works perfectly.
Sails:
20 year old main, still has life left in it and is in good shape, but it's 20 years old
20 year old repaired jib
Brand new jib from Quantum Sails in Houston
2 year old small Code 0
8:1 mainsheet
Carbon bowsprit, folds up for trailering or towing (see pictures)
Motor:
3 year old Epropulsion Spirit 1.0 Plus. $3k new.
Less than 5 hours total use.
Quiet and light, works great. Pushes boat at 5 knots even into a stiff headwind.
Priced to sell! D20s that are not as good as this boat have gone for $14k-$16k historically.
I'm pricing it down some because the boat has a few repairs needed that I can't do, I'm sensitized to epoxy so I'm out of this game, it needs a paint job, etc. I'll be glad to run down a complete list for anyone serious, give me a call or shoot me an email.
