Com-Pac 16 Mark II, 1991 sailboat for sale

Thoughtfully Modified & Ready to Sail/Travel
  • Location: Wisconsin
  • Asking Price: $5,500

This is a 1991 Com-Pac 16 Mark II, featuring the factory bowsprit and extended forestay. The CP-16 is known for being a very stable and forgiving boat, parts are still easily acquired and the rig is simple enough to single-hand without stress. The ballasted keel and no moving parts under the water line makes this boat easy to maintain launch and recover.
  • This boat has heavy-duty, high-quality components typically found on much larger cruising yachts. This includes solid bronze deck hardware (cleats and anchor roller), stainless steel pulpits, and teak trim. Navigation, solar and tiller pilot. This boat has been thoughtfully modified for multi-day trips and camp-cruising.
  • No bottom paint. Never slipped. Always stored on trailer, indoors or covered. Anything negotiable. I can add stainless fishing pole mounts, magma grill mount, change tires, change engine options etc for a potential buyer. Test sail/demonstration could be arranged for a serious buyer.
  • I have come to a point where I bought a bigger Compac to accommodate my adult children and it’s time for someone else to enjoy this one. Arguably one of the best optioned examples out there. This boat never fails to get compliments from other boaters.

    Technical Specifications
  • Length Overall (LOA): 16' 11" (with bowsprit)
  • Waterline Length (LWL): 14' 0"
  • Beam: 6' 0"
  • Draft: 1' 6" (Shoal draft fixed keel)
  • Displacement: 1,100 lbs
  • Ballast: 450 lbs (concrete)
  • Mast Height: 21' 0" (Above waterline)
  • Total Sail Area: ~120 to 140 sq. ft.

    Performance & Handling Upgrades

  • 15-Minute Rigging: Upgraded forestay with a lever-style hinge pin. You pin the forestay, pull the lever, and it automatically tensions the rig. Mast is light and on a pin allowing easy raising and lowering by hand.
  • Boarding: Includes the factory-installed boarding ladder that swings down for easy access and swimming.

    Electronics & Autopilot
  • Self-Steering: Equipped with a Tiller-Autopilot, allowing for easy single-handing and relief on long passages.
  • Navigation: Dragonfly GPS/Chartplotter and a dedicated depth finder.
  • Communication: On-board radio with AIS in the cabin and a remote on the stern; external antenna.
  • Solar: Flexible solar panel with charge controller and through-hull plug.
  • Lighting: All navigation, steaming, and anchor lights are slimline LED fixtures.

    Rigging & Sails
  • Doyle Sail Package: Includes a Coastal Cruising main (65 sq. ft., 2 reef points, jiffy reefing), 135% Genoa (8.65' LP), standard coastal jib (55 sq. ft.), and storm jib. All sails are in very good condition. The Doyle sails are very well optioned with tell tails and leech lines. The main can be sailed loose footed or in the bolt rope track.
  • Sail Trim: Added Genoa and Jib car tracks for precise lead-block positioning. Spinnaker rigging. Head sail down haul run to cockpit.
  • Downwind: Rigged for both Symmetrical and asymmetrical spinnaker. Cruising spinnaker with pole available (negotiable).
  • Deck Gear: Factory solid bronze cleats and anchor roller, oversized galvanized anchor, and chain rode.

    Structural & Maintenance
  • Hull/Paint: Gold vinyl accents. The hull is finished with custom green and purple below the waterline.
  • Cockpit Floor: Original open cell foam insert removed and replaced with a Coosa composite insert. The floor is supported and now provides additional storage space underneath.
  • Cushions: Includes full interior cabin cushions and factory khaki canvas cockpit cushions.
  • Storage & Cruising: The cockpit is designed to accept a cooler under the tiller, keeping the sole clear. Includes the custom-sized porta-potty that fits under the entry step.this was a $300 toilet.
  • Ventilation: Access and inspection holes drilled into the bunks to ensure the bilge remains dry. Covers swing open to ventilate the entire space.
  • Mechanical: Newer 2014 Yamaha 2.5 hp (freshwater only). Carburetor rebuilt this year; outdrive serviced and oils changed. 3.5 Tohatsu also available. Can separate boat and motor if preferred.
  • Trailer: Galvanized with Easy Lube axles and updated epoxy-filled marine LED lights. Very easy to launch and recover single handed.
  • Boat does have an automatic bilge pump in the rare event you take a wave into the boat with the hatch boards out. (This was used as a coastal/big water boat)
