For sale is an extensively refitted Sun Cat that has seen fairly light use for the past few years.
I purchased this in 2023 after the prior owner did a major refit of the boat. The work was done
by the Great Lakes Sailboat Company in co-ordination with the Com-Pac factory. The Com-
Pac factory recently closed but GLSC is still in business.
The 2009 model has the desired fiberglass centerboard trunk housing rather than the earlier
models that had the metal housing.
The prior work done included new standing and running
rigging, new sail, new sail cover, refurbishing of the center board and rudder, and many other
items.
My work since then finishes the electrical system with a 50 watt solar panel mounted on
the boom gallows, a solar charge controller, a 50 amp hour Lithium Iron battery, and many
other items. I had a custom shade awning fabricated for when anchoring out, and built a lift for
the boom that mounts on the gallows, to increase headroom in the cockpit when anchored.

The boat includes a low hour 6 hp outboard on a lifting transom bracket. The motor was
recently serviced by a local shop including fluid changes, new impeller, and a new plug. It also
includes a trailer that is in good shape. I drove the trailer and boat back from Lincoln Nebraska
with no problems. Since then I have created a removable light bar to increase rear lighting,
and greased the bearings with replace grease seals.
Boat also includes a folding dinghy I just completed along with new 6.5’ oars. I have not tested
the dinghy yet but the plan was that it will fit in the cabin when folded and then can be
launched from the cockpit to use for shore access when anchored. It is called a Wooden
Widget Origami.
The boat is perfect for trips like the Salish 100 from Olympia to Port Townsend Washington. I
have done this trip twice, and a couple of week long gunk holing trips in the California Delta.
Other than those trips it has light day use. Motor and trailer have been flushed and cleaned
after each salt water use.
