Up for grabs , just in time for sailing season is my 1978 Compass H28. Certainly a rare bird here in The USA . She sailed here from New Zealand about 16 years ago. The Compass H28 is one the the most popular boats in NZ. She is a rock solid Bluewater cruiser in a nice , very maintainable size. As I’ve worked on her I have been repeatedly impressed by the quality of her build. She is truly built like a tank. Full keel , cutaway forefoot , aft hung rudder with tiller. She was made for cruising. Absolutely perfect for a couple or single hander. She is also a very cozy , comfortable live aboard.
I’ve gone through all the systems ,just serviced her fresh water cooled Volvo diesel , replaced some of the running rigging, and generally cleaned her up.
The interior is spotless. Her cushions are all recently recovered and show like new. Bone dry bilges.
Compass H28’s usually sell in the $15-20K range . My plans for this year have changed and she is still in need of some exterior cosmetics , hence the low price.
That being said ,she is in sail away condition TODAY.

What she needs:
Her running lights need attention. There is a workaround onboard
Her cockpit teak is in poor shape and could use repair or replacement. I was going to pull it and install treadmaster.
There is no galley stove. Her original alcohol stove needed replacement and was removed . I never found a suitable replacement , so I just use a backpacking stove.
She is in a transferable slip at The Stockton Sailing Club. She’s been in fresh water for the past 15 years which is very good for boats.
I will gladly help the new owner bring her down to the Bay Area if needed.
If I was keeping her? I’d put on a wind vane , get an Iridium go , and head to Mexico. She is a rock solid adventure boat.
