Sir,
I am directed by Lord Spencer, in answer to your letter dated 9th. October to inform you that his Lordship will mention you to the Commander in Chief of the Station on which you are serving, for early promotion, and that his Lordship is happy to find that your exertions in the Service have, of late, been so successful.
