It is with great regret that I offer the "Lois Ann" for sale. However, as I ceased cruising in 2000 and getting to old to justify a casual sail, I am selling her. She is a wonderful boat built as a racing~Cruising class, but used mainly as a cruising boat for my wife and I from 1993 to 2000. We circumnavigated the Caribbean visiting virtually every island until we reached Panama. We fell in love with Bocas del Toro and have been here ever since.
She is fully equipped for cruising with a set of cruisingsails. However, she has a beautiful set of racing sails unused since 1993. She is wonderful to sail, responsive and fast. She is a very good cruising boat with most of the amenities desired for a cruising couple.
The cruising sails had also been replaced and are still in good condition. The racing sails; main, 150, 135, and 100 head sails, 3 spinnakers, have not been used since 1992. They are perfect sails by Neil Pryde of Kevlar and nylon
All standing rigging except for the forestay and backstay are Navtec discontinuous rod rigging. The forestay is a swaged wire again by Navtec. The backstay is 3/8" 1x19 wire rope and is adjustable by a hydraulic piston. There are two running backstays adjustable by individual winches. This rig is very stiff and matched with the racing sails for stellar performance.
All running rigging is braid on braid high strength line. There are two spinnaker halyards, two main halyards, headsail halyard, topping lift, pole hold downs, boom vang, out haul, double reefing lines. There is also an attachable boom preventor. All of the sheets, main, head sail and 3 sizes of spinnaker sheets are all braid on braid. The headsail fairleads are continuously adjustable. There are an auxiliary set of headsail fairleads permitting the headsail sheets to run inside the side stays to use under shortened sail.
The vessel has a 3 cylinder Yamaha. The shaft is stainless steel running from the reversing gearbox through a dripless shaft seal to a stainless steel folding two blade prop. The engine is new and has only accumulated 110 hours since replacement in 2004. The prop was replaced with the new engine.
The galley is fitted with a 2-burner gas stove with oven. The gas bottle is located in a fitted propane compartment in the rear lazeret. A spare gas bottle is located in the anchor locker. The connection is a rigid line with two shutoff devices. The galley is well designed for efficient cooking well lit for night. There is adequate storage for all dinnerware and silverware you would need. The sink is a double making it easy for cleaning dishes.
The refrigerator is a 12volt system having a capacity of 4.5 cu Ft. The refrigerator is top loaded. The evaporator was replaced 8 years ago and modified to have the evaporator located in the top of the box. The efficiency was improved over 15%.
The pressurized potable water system is in good working order with a new pump 6 years old but used very little.
The layout has the traditional V birth forward with a bulk head separating it and a small forward head from the main cabin. The aft cabin with a full size king bed is a quarter birth. The salon has two births when the back rests are removed. The main head is off of the salon.
The vessel is equipped with the following:
VHF radio by Horizon Intrepid. It has an extension to the cockpit for the helmsman to use.
NKE DATACOM electronics system including flux compass, anemometer, wind direction, speed, depth, 10 hr. barometer, GPS, autopilot, and navigational system. There are three repeater windows on the mast, two repeater windows on the starboard side of the cockpit (not working); the autopilot controller with repeaters, and the wind direction indicator on the port side of the cockpit. The main control and navigation calculation is at the navigator station below. The repeaters and the nav. station need to be replaced.
An Apelco Loran-c DX19100 below with a repeater on the starboard side of the cockpit. It obviously has not been used for over 15 years.
A KVH Sailcomp flux compass with a repeater (not working) on the mast.
Three electrical bilge pumps - one for the small bilge, and two for the showers in both heads.
One manual bilge pump located in the cockpit.
Music system consisting of a Sony radio (not working) - tape player and 10 cartridge CD player. Two speakers below and two in the cockpit.
A Village marine 8 gal per hour water maker.
A Furano radar model 1610.
A single sideband radio by ICOM model 710.
Virtually all electronic maps for the Eastern side of the US, Gulf, and Caribbean are available. The Cap'n electronic mapping software with CD charts can be integrated with the GPS navigational system - either from the main navigational GPS or a hand held GPS.
